A Clinical Study of Skin Disorders in Aged Persons (¥±)





Abstract
Authors performed a clinical study of skin disorders in aged group over 50 years old on 2,474
out-patients who had visited the Department of Dermatology, University Hospital and Yongsan
Hospital, College of Medicine, Chung-Ang University from July, 1984 to December, 1987. The results were as follows:
1. The incidence of aged group over 50 years old to total number of out-patients (16,153) was 15.37o (2,474 cases).
2. The ratio of male to female was 1.15:1 (1,321:1,153).
3. Eczema was the most common disease group which revealed 34.1 To. The second¢¥ most frequent group was fungal infection (16.9%), followed by urticaria, drug eruption and erythema (12.1 %), viral infection (12.0%), pruritus (5.2%), tumor (4.1 %), and bacterial infection (2.7%).
4. The most common diseases in each disease group were as follows: contact dermatitis in eczema,¢¥
tinea pedis and manus in fungal infection, acute urticaria in urticaria, drug eruption and
erythema_ group, herpes zoster in viral infection generalized pruritus in Puritus group,
and folliculitis in bacterial infection, respectively.
5. The disease groups including eczema, fungal, viral and bacterial infection were more prevalent
in man, whereas -urticaria, drug eruption and erythema group, and tumor were in woman.
6. Among 103 cases of skin tumor, 94 cases (91.3%) were benign and the remaining 9 cases
(8.7%) were premalignant or malignant. The frequency of benign tumor was in order of sebor
rheickeratosis, skin tag, epidermal cyst, syringoma, respectively. In malignancy; there were
basal cell carcinoma and squamous cell carcinoma.
